Nutrition Coaching vs Nutrition Counseling

Nutrition coaching often focuses on prescriptive advice like a list of “good” and “bad” foods, meal plans, and standardized strategies that may not consider individual needs or circumstances.

In contrast, nutrition counseling is a more personalized and holistic approach. It involves exploring a client’s nutrition goals, identifying barriers, and uncovering the root causes of their struggles. The process meets clients where they are, gradually working towards sustainable, long-term goals through ongoing support and collaboration.

What to Expect

The first session is a 1 hour-long initial assessment where we go over your medical history, nutrition concerns, goals, barriers, eating environment, eating patterns, etc. At the end of the session we decide on a nutrition plan and create small goals to work towards for the next session.

The follow up sessions are ~30-45 mins where we follow up on your progress, discuss any barriers, and continue to adjust your goals. Some sessions are heavy in nutrition counseling and others are heavy in nutrition education, depending on what you need to help you move forward.

  • Disordered eating / eating disorders

  • PCOS, hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s

  • Nutrition for mental & behavioral health (ADHD, depression, OCD)

  • Recovery nutrition for addiction/substance use disorder

  • IBS, food allergy / intolerances

  • Mindful eating, nutrition planning & scheduling

  • Medical nutrition therapy

Pricing

  • Out of Pocket: $160 for 1 hour Initial Assessment, $80 for 30-45 min Follow Up

  • Insurance Accepted: Aetna
